A close-knit group of hand bookbinders, with shared interests in creating and collecting fine bindings, joined together to promote hand bookbinding and related book arts and to exchange information and ideas. 

HBC 54 - Submission of Materials

The 54th Annual Member’s Exhibition will be held this year at The American Bookbinders Museum in San Francisco. The exhibition will open on September 12 and run through December. Important Dates:

 

Instructions

  • Complete Submission of Materials form by July 16th 2026.

  • Your books will need to be delivered between July 17 - 23, 2026. (Delivery Instructions & Return Postage information)

  • If you are submitting more than one object, fill out the form for your first object and submit it before returning to the same page to complete the form for your second object. 

  • All fields marked with (required) must have some content in order for the form to be successfully submitted. 

  • Please be sure to include the address to which you would like your promotional postcards sent and your books returned at the conclusion of the exhibition. 

  • Not all the categories below may pertain to your particular object.  Please fill as many as you feel are appropriate and we will try to construct a catalogue entry that is suitable to the specific type of object you are entering, be it design binding, letterpress, box, calligraphy, artist’s book, etc.  

  • Please fill out the form, click PRINT to print your form, before you click SUBMIT. Please include the printed copy of the form below for EACH object that you are submitting to HBC54.

Eligibility & Submission Guidelines:

  • Entry Limit: You may enter up to two (2) objects for a single registration fee.

  • Eligible Work: Submissions are open to all current members; books, boxes, or broadsides are eligible.

  • Date of Creation: All submitted work must have been completed within the past two (2) years.

  • Prior Exhibitions: Work previously entered in any past HBC exhibition is not eligible.

  • Size Restrictions: Artwork must not exceed 15 inches in any direction when closed.

  • HBC reserves the right to reject any item that does not meet the display criteria of the venue.
