UC Berkeley Library Preservation Department
The UC Berkeley Library consists of twenty-three libraries and over 12 million volumes. The UC Berkeley Library Preservation Department's mission is to maintain the collections in serviceable condition in order to provide access for present and future generations. Within the Preservation Department, the Conservation Treatment Division oversees the repair and housing of circulating and special collections materials. The Library’s collections are wonderfully varied, and the conservators care for everything from letters from the Mark Twain Project, papyri fragments from the Center for Tebtunis Papyri, fine bindings at the Bancroft Library, scrolls from the East Asian Library, artists’ books from the Environmental Design Library, and much more.
