Natural edges. Leather endbands. A detail in one of Veta Gorner’s copperplate etchings, inspired me to portray how it feels to dance wildly, ecstatic with joy, free without inhibition.

Hand sewn silk endbands. Tim Robertson’s supernatural beings, on the cusp of transformation, are illustrated like modern cave paintings. Each tale explores the boundaries of what it means to be human. Design represents a being transforming, extending and bending beyond the usual boundaries of a book cover.

The designs are cut into Morgan Conservatory abaca and cotton endpapers mimic some of the copperplate etchings.

Coptic variant, covered in amate bark paper stamped with gold, silver and bronze paint. Covers with a vine of California poppies created out of marbled Momi paper. Butterfly shapes, made of Pride Flag fabric stenciled in bronze, silver, and gold paint and backed with muslin, were cut out and glued on the covers and throughout the book. The text has been calligraphed in colored pencil.
