Join HBC for a visit to Lane Medical Library at Stanford University School of Medicine

on Wednesday, March 22.

Drew Bourne, historian and keeper of the rare book archive at Lane, will deliver an overview of anatomical books in the collection. Rare books will serve as examples of changes in published illustrated anatomies from the early modern period to the nineteenth century, showing changes both in technologies for creating illustrations (woodcut, copperplate engraving, lithograph, etc.)—as well as changes in artistic styles for what are ostensibly scientific images.
